John Dickinson (November 13, [O.S. November 2] 1732 – February 14, 1808), a Founding Father of the United States, was an attorney and politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Wilmington, Delaware.
John Dickinson was an American statesman often referred to as the “penman of the Revolution.” Born in Maryland, Dickinson moved with his family to Dover, Delaware, in 1740. He studied law in London at the Middle Temple and practiced law in Philadelphia (1757–60) before entering public life.
