Bobby Previte (born July 16, 1951 in Niagara Falls, New York) is a drummer, composer, and bandleader. He earned a degree in economics from the University at Buffalo, where he also studied percussion. He moved to New York City in 1979 and began professional relationships with John Zorn, Wayne Horvitz, and Elliott Sharp.

Bobby Previte is a composer and performer whose work explores the nexus between notated and improvised music. One of the seminal figures of the 1980s New York ‘Downtown’ scene, Previte is the recipient of the 2015 Greenfield Prize for music and was a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow in 2012.
This record is in tribute to nine of the great guitarists I have played with in my lifetime, from the incredible Charlie Hunter, to Wilco’s shredder genius Nels Cline, to the titan James Blood Ulmer, through the noise master Elliott Sharp, and back to the beloved (and missed) jazz/rock blaster Sonny Sharrock.
