Emperor es una banda noruega de black metal sinfónico fundada en 1991 por el vocalista y guitarrista Vegard Sverre "Ihsahn" Tveitan, el guitarrista Tomas "Samoth" Haugen y el bajista Håvard "Mortiis" Ellefsen en Notodden, Telemark. Junto a Mayhem, Burzum y Darkthrone, Emperor fue una de las bandas integrantes del Inner Circle.
