Azymuth is a Brazilian jazz-funk group formed in 1973. The original lineup was a trio composed of José Roberto Bertrami , Alex Malheiros (bass, guitars), and Ivan Conti (drums, percussion). Kiko Continentino joined the group in 2015 as the band's keyboardist after Bertrami's death.
Azymuth. Brazilian fusion jazz trio founded by Bertrami (keyboards), Conti (percussion) & Malheiros (bass). The 3 had been playing in the bossa nova and jazz scene of Rio as live and session musicians, and were living in the same bohemian block in Copacabana when Bertrami invited the two others to join him.

16 de feb. de 2015 · Azymuth went on to become one of the best-selling jazz artists of the 80s with their future albums for Milestones, unquestionably the biggest jazz label of that decade. ‘Azimuth’ is the album that kickstarted it all for them, the record that was the blue print and definition of their ‘samba doido / crazy samba’ sound.
