Ephel Duath es una banda italiana de metal progresivo originaria de Padua y formada en 1998. Historia. Ephel Duath se formó en 1998 como un dúo, tomando el nombre de un lugar ficticio de la novela El Señor de los Anillos de J. R. R. Tolkien. Su álbum debut, Phormula, salió a la venta en el sello Code666 en el año 2000.

Ephel Duath was an Italian avant garde metal/hardcore punk band, formed in 1998 in Padua, Italy. They have had a constantly changing line-up, with guitarist and songwriter Davide Tiso being the only original member. To date, they have released one demo, five studio albums and two remix albums.
The Ephel Dúath, also known as the Outer Fence or Mountains of Shadow, were a range of mountains making up Mordor’s western and southern borders. These mountains met the Ash Mountains at the Black Gate, sealing Mordor from the outside.

Ephel Dúath is the range of mountains that make up the western and southern borders of Mordor, meeting the northern Ered Lithui range at Morannon, the Black Gate. Ephel Dúath is Elvish for "Mountains of Shadow" (Sindarin, "outer fences of dark shadow") in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
