Métal Urbain (meaning urban metal) was one of the first French punk groups, formed in 1976 in Paris. Career. They were heavily influenced by the Clash and Sex Pistols on one hand, and on the other by an electro approach related to Metal Machine Music by Lou Reed.

French Punk band from Paris. Short-lived but influential band of the late seventies, one of the first to combine the drum machine with electric guitars and synthesizers. Also the first act to release a record on the Rough Trade label, and one of the few French bands to record with John Peel.
