Earthlight is the diffuse reflection of sunlight reflected from Earth's surface and clouds. Earthshine (an example of planetshine), also known as the Moon's ashen glow, is the dim illumination of the otherwise unilluminated portion of the Moon by this indirect sunlight.

27 de jul. de 2022 · Earthshine — sunlight reflected from Earth to the Moon and back — makes it even more compelling, especially during the 2-to-3 day period before and after a new Moon. The 2.5-day-old Moon on June 1, 2022 was plump with earthshine. Notice that bright highlands border much of the Moon's outer (celestial eastern) edge.
