Sir Christopher Bland. A British television executive whose career in broadcasting began aged 34 as the Deputy Chairman of the Independent Television Authority, Bland became the Chairman of LWT in 1984, which he successfully streamlined before orchestrating a genius takeover at auction in 1991.
Christopher Bland captained both the modern pentathlon and fencing teams during his tenure at Oxford University and represented Ireland in the latter sport at the 1960 Summer Olympics, where he was eliminated in the opening rounds of both the individual and team épée events.
