Jerry Orbach was an American actor who starred in musicals, films and TV shows, most notably as Detective Lennie Briscoe in Law & Order (1990). He was born in the Bronx, New York, to a German Jewish father and a Polish-Lithuanian Catholic mother, and died of prostate cancer in 2004.
