29 de oct. de 2020 · There is very little to choose between the two rhythm sections but it would be even more difficult to pick a winner from the excellent piano competition waged by Keezer and Hicks. Above all else, look out for this young trumpeter; he looks like he could be around for quite some time.
17 de dic. de 2006 · Two groups with Roy and alto saxophonist Antonio Hart being the only constants. Tenor saxophonist Ralph Moore makes it a sextet and John Hicks replaces Geoffrey Keezer for 6 tracks and then the tracks are intermixed.
The one fault to the CD is that the performances and solos are often a little too brief, with all but "Whisper Not" in the 4-6 minute range. But for a debut, Roy Hargrove can still be proud of Diamond In The Rough. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide Roy Hargrove's debut album.
