5 de sept. de 2010 · After serving as front man and harpist for the legendary Muddy Waters band for 12 years, blues harp legend James Cotton's debut at Verve Records in 1967-1968 is generally conceded to be his most fertile period artistically, and this intelligently chosen best-of does little to dispel that impression.
He launched his solo career in the 1960s, releasing almost 30 albums and touring worldwide since then. This collection has over 75 minutes of music, and features studio and live solo material, plus songs from Harp Attack!, Cotton’s history-making collaboration with Junior Wells, Carey Bell and Billy Branch.
Luther Tucker was a consummate blues guitarist with impeccable credentials. His early apprenticeship was under Big Bill Broonzy and Robert Jr. Lockwood. His recordings as session man at Chess Studios led to his eight year stint with Little Walter.
