  2. The New York City Police Academy is the police academy of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Within the organization of the New York City Police Department, the Chief of Training oversees the Training Bureau, which includes the Police Academy, the NYPD Cadet Corps, and other units.

  3. Hiring Process. Requirements. Qualifying Age: The minimum age of appointment is 21 years old. However, candidates are eligible to take the Police Officer's Entrance Exam at seventeen and one half (17½) years old. Candidates must register to take the Entrance Exam prior to their 35th birthday.
