The major work present here is the 1909 song cycle On Wenlock Edge, for tenor, piano and string quartet, a setting of poms by A.E.Houseman, and often recorded. It contains what, for me, is the most beautiful and memorable of RVW’s songs, From Far, from Eve and Morning.

Nicky Spence impeccably brings out RVW's musical lines with such sensitivity that the beauty makes the music alluring.
Songs. On Wenlock Edge. by Ralph Vaughan Williams. At the Oxford Lieder Festival in 2019 we presented a new film of Ralph Vaughan Williams' On Wenlock Edge, performed live with tenor Daniel Norman, the Brodsky Quartet and pianist Sholto Kynoch. It was created and directed by Jeremy Hamway-Bidgood.
