One of his finest groups had trumpeter Blue Mitchell, tenor saxophonist Pete Christlieb, and pianist Ross Tompkins. Louie Bellson Jam is a wonderful example of the empathy among them. It is also a reminder of what a loss jazz suffered when Mitchell died less than a year after this date.
