The cassette Flags (Tapeworm) contained some of his most disembodied and cacophonous music. A Static Place (14K, 2011), composed between december 2007 and october 2010, and its follow-up Coda (2012) used ancient 78rpm records, mechanical-acoustic gramophones and computers.

The Tapeworm presents a cassette-only release by Stephan Mathieu. "Flags is a homage to the beauty of data. The pieces are created from photos of my studio equipment which were transformed to audio via header changes.

Stephan Mathieu (born 11 October 1967) is a German mastering engineer and former musician. He currently lives in Bonn, Germany where he runs Schwebung Mastering, an independent studio for audio mastering and restoration.
