In 2002, she married musician Jim Wallerstein (aka Jim Walters) of Das Damen. For his film Almost Famous, music journalist and filmmaker Cameron Crowe developed the "band-aid" character Penny Lane as a composite of a handful of girls he saw backstage in the late 1960s and early 1970s at concerts calling themselves the "Flying Garter Girls".

She also completed her autobiography, the New York Times Bestseller “Rebel Heart; An American Rock And Roll Journey” (St, Martin’s Press) with Victor Bockris in 2001 and in 2002 married Jim Wallerstein of Das Damen and Vacationland fame.
For the tour, the band recruited drummer Joe Rizzo, and Richard Bacchus briefly returned on guitar and was then replaced during the band's last few dates by Jim Wallerstein. The band toured the US with The Offspring and The Living End, before playing their final show in their hometown at Coney Island High on April 24, 1999.
