The Freshies are an English punk rock band, formed in Manchester in 1978. The band was founded by singer-songwriter and comedian Chris Sievey, whose best-known creation – comedy character Frank Sidebottom – originated as a mascot for the group.

The Freshies were formed in 1977 by Chris Sievey. Over their 5 years of activity, The Freshies self-released 3 studio albums on cassette; All Sleeps Secrets (1977), featuring Sievey on all instruments; the Girls From Banana Island (1979), and finally, Rough 'N' Ready (1980).
The Freshies were a lo-fi power-pop outfit who never managed to really make it big outside the Greater Manchester area.
