Thomas Hoff. Thomas John "Tom" Hoff (born June 9, 1973) is a retired American volleyball player. He was a middle blocker and has been with the U.S. national team from 1996 until 2009. He is a three-time Olympian in volleyball, having played in 2000, 2004, and 2008 .
Tom Hoff is a former U.S. men's volleyball player who won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He also played in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, as well as several World League, World Cup and World Championship tournaments.

Biography. Tom Hoff was a middle blocker who played volleyball for the USA at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympic Games. Hoff played in college at The Ohio State University for two years, and then transferred to Cal State Long Beach, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
