Dabney Roger "Darby" Slick (born February 26, 1944) [1] is an American guitarist and songwriter, best known as a former member of the Great Society and the writer of the Jefferson Airplane song "Somebody to Love."
The Great Society was a 1960s San Francisco rock band that featured Darby Slick on guitar and Grace Slick on vocals. The band released only one single, "Someone to Love", and disbanded when Grace joined Jefferson Airplane.
