Roscoe Mitchell (born August 3, 1940) is an American composer, jazz instrumentalist, and educator, known for being "a technically superb – if idiosyncratic – saxophonist".
Roscoe Mitchell is a saxophonist, composer, and educator who has been involved with the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) and the Art Ensemble of Chicago. He has performed and recorded with various groups and collaborators, and has received many honors and grants for his innovative and diverse musical output.
