I'm wiser now; these days, "North/South" sounds like one of the best blues albums of the 1980s (re-released by Delmark in 1999). Johnson's inventive and gorgeous guitar playing, his penchant for going out of his way not to make his songs sound alike and, yes, his lovely voice make this a blues disc to cherish.
