Welcome to the city of Victoria’s only high school! Vic High is located in the heart of historic Fernwood, an area renowned for beautiful Victorian era architecture and a thriving artistic community.
The current Victoria High School, the fourth to bear its name, was opened on May 1, 1914, on 3.5 acres (1.4 ha) of land, donated by the City of Victoria, [7] on Grant Street between Fernwood and Camosun Streets. Designed by C. Elwood Watkins, School Architect for the Victoria Board of Education, [8] the school cost slightly more than $460,000.
Victoria High School is a school that celebrates diversity, welcoming generations of new Canadians and supporting our vibrant International Student Program. Victoria High School presently enrolls about 850 students in grades 9 to 12.
At Victoria High School, we offer a broad selection of high-calibre academic programs, along with a wide range of athletics, fine arts, technical programs and extra-curricular activities to over 800 students.

Victoria High School is the oldest public high school west of Winnipeg and north of San Francisco. It was opened on August 7, 1876, to a class of twelve girls and twenty-two boys. The first Victoria High School was a log building with two classrooms, located on the grounds of Central Junior Secondary.
