The brief tour that followed the release of the album included a concert in Leningrad, which was recorded and then released as Trial by Fire (1989). Later that year he left the band. Deep Purple. Turner was asked to join both Bad Company and Foreigner, but opted to join Deep Purple. Turner recorded one album, Slaves and Masters (1990).

By 1990, Malmsteen already had a new album and singer named Göran Edman, but only Joe Lynn Turner had the marquee value to bring Yngwie a Billboard top 40 charting record (#40 with Odyssey).

The other difference in this performance from the studio work is that all of the "Trilogy" songs are sung by Joe Lynn Turner. Suffice to say, although Turner has a lower natural range than Mark Boals, he handles the screams much better. He gives stand out performances on both "Liar" and "Queen in Love".
