Eldorado is the first complete ELO concept album; bandleader Jeff Lynne conceived the storyline before he wrote any music. The plot follows a Walter Mitty -like character who journeys into fantasy worlds via dreams, to escape the disillusionment of his mundane reality.

The first concept album ever to written by frontman Jeff Lynne, Eldorado brings more than just a band; it unifies rock, pop, synths, Beatles, and Electric Light Orchestra.
18 de feb. de 2010 · Eldorado was a turning point for ELO. Instead of recording with two cellists and a violinist, Jeff Lynne incorporated a 40-piece orchestra. This changed the sound of the band, leaning more towards the violin end of the strings and departing from the more heavily cello-based recordings of the previous two albums. This, in my opinion, was a mistake.
