Provision is the third studio album by the British pop band Scritti Politti, released in the UK on 6 June 1988 by Virgin Records. The album was the band's second top ten hit in the UK, peaking at No. 8 on the UK Albums Chart, and was certified Gold by the BPI for 100,000 copies sold.

The personnel for Cupid and Psyche 85 differed from that of their first album, and featured keyboardist David Gamson and ex-Material drummer Fred Maher, both of whom would collaborate with Gartside on songwriting and production duties. Arif Mardin would also produce three songs for the album.

Geoff Travis at Rough Trade introduced him to keyboard wizard David Gamson and drummer Fred Maher, and this new configuration of Scritti began work on what would become Cupid & Psyche 85.
Frederick J. Maher is an American drummer, music programmer and record producer. He was a member of the bands Massacre (1980–81), the Dance, Material, Scritti Politti, and has recorded and toured with Lou Reed. In 1984 he released Basic, an instrumental collaboration album with ex- Voidoids guitarist Robert Quine .
