Young Marble Giants were a Welsh post-punk band formed in Cardiff, Wales, in 1978. Their music was based around the vocals of Alison Statton along with the minimalist instrumentation of brothers Philip and Stuart Moxham. Their early sound was a sharp contrast with the more aggressive punk rock that dominated the underground at the time.

26 de feb. de 2020 · Stuart and his brother Phil Moxham, who played bass, were also lucky enough to have a cousin, Pete Joyce, with the skills to build a drum machine. Statton was more than just a “voice,” too, driving the direction of the group toward her taste for what she described as, “less urgent, quieter music – less “masculine” sounds, if you like.”
Alison Statton (voz), Philip Moxham (bajo) y su hermano Stuart (guitarra y compositor principal), formaron Young Marble Giants en 1979, cuando apenas tenían veinte años. Adquirida rápidamente por el prestigioso sello Rough Trade, la banda grabó Colossal Youth en el transcurso de cinco días en un pequeño estudio en el norte de Gales .

2 de dic. de 2020 · What I thought was possible in music changed forever 40 years ago, almost exactly, on the evening of November 21, 1980. That was the night I saw Young Marble Giants perform at Hurrah, a venue just west and north of Columbus Circle in Manhattan. It was the first of their two nights tat Hurrah, and I was fortunate enough to attend both.
