Heavy Trash is an American rockabilly band based in New York City, formed by Jon Spencer of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Matt Verta-Ray (formerly of New York bands Madder Rose and Speedball Baby).

Matt Verta-Ray. Profile: Guitarist, bassist, and producer based in New York City. Owns and operates the analog NY Hed Studios. Member of Madder Rose, Speedball Baby, and Heavy Trash . Born 1963 in Cairo, Egypt, he began playing guitar in 1974. In 1985 he moved to New York City.
27 de ene. de 2024 · Para ello llamó a su colega Matt Verta-Ray (Madder Rose, Blackflies, Speedball Baby…) y, como suele ser habitual, lo que parecía destinado a ser un simple divertimento para pasar el rato acabó convertido en un proyecto serio y muy valorado por los fans llamado Heavy Trash.
21 de ene. de 2008 · Matt Verta-Ray y Jon Spencer confirman con “Going Way Out With Heavy Trash” (Yep Roc/Discmedi) que no son una simple anécdota. El proyecto va viento en popa y esta obra es la constatación de que hay vida inteligente al margen de la Blues Explosion.
