Francella Ruby Turner MBE (born 22 June 1958) is a British Jamaican R&B and soul singer, songwriter, and actress. In a music career spanning more than 40 years, Turner is best known for her album and single releases in Europe and North America.
Guilty by Ruby Turner was written by Randy Newman and was first recorded by Chris Smither in 2004. It was first released by Bonnie Raitt in 1973. Ruby Turner released it on the album Guilty in 1996. It was covered by Steve Klink, Ian Shaw, Norbert Detaeye, Maun and other artists.
This is one of my favourite albums, Birmingham-born Ruby at her strong lyrical vocal best. If you like her collaborations with Jools Holland (eg "The Informer"), you should love this. She played a few tracks from this earlier album when we saw her live this year.
