Bring the Family is John Hiatt 's eighth album. It was his first album to chart on the Billboard 200, and featured his first single entry on the mainstream rock chart with "Thank You Girl". It features Ry Cooder on guitar, Nick Lowe on bass guitar and Jim Keltner on drums.
Keltner is an endorser of DW drums, hardware and pedals, Ahead drumsticks/gloves/griptape, Paiste Cymbals, Remo drumheads and world percussion and Roland electronics. Little Village. In 1987, Keltner, along with guitarist Ry Cooder and bassist Nick Lowe, played on John Hiatt's Bring the Family.

Ambos se propusieron llevar al estudio lo que acontecía cada noche sobre las tablas, a tal efecto Chelew puso a disposición de Hiatt una side-band de ensueño, Ry Cooder, Jim Keltner y Nick Lowe (juntos grabarían posteriormente como Little Village), en tan sólo cuatro días plasmaron en al plástico diez canción sin desperdicio ni relleno.

It's not surprising, then, that Hiatt's latest album, Bring the Family, is a Capraesque journey through emotional struggles to a denouement of joy and hope. Like a man who gratefully emerges from a long, dark tunnel into the light, Hiatt acknowledges the happy ending but isn't afraid to look back at the often rough road that brought him there.

"Bring the Family" es uno de esos discos que aunque no hayan alcanzado el pedigrí de otros, son tan grandes que cuando lo escuchas por primera vez sabes que siempre te va a acompañar. Tal vez no se convierta en una necesidad como otros, pero si va a ser una elección feliz y atinada, una apuesta segura.
