Joseph Michael " Shiny Joe " Ryan (born 23 August 1987) is an Irish-Australian psychedelic rock musician, singer and songwriter. He is the founding mainstay multi-instrumentalist and guitarist of Pond, which have released nine albums.

When he is not touring as crew for Tame Impala or performing with his band Pond as a founding member and multi-instrumentalist, Joe is performing under his solo moniker, Shiny Joe Ryan, and has released two solo albums to date, The Cosmic Microwave Background (2014) and Shiny’s Democracy (2021).
Shiny Joe Ryan is a happy enigma among Australia’s musical landscape. One part psychedelic rock, one part folk (kinda, maybe?) – wrapped together with a keen sense of humour. Oddities that form together perfectly, when in theory, they really shouldn’t.
