Nicholas Platt (born March 10, 1936) is an American diplomat who served as U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan, Philippines, Zambia, and as a high level diplomat in Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. He is the former president of the Asia Society in New York City. [1]

After a 34-year Foreign Service career, Nicholas Platt served for 12 years at the helm of the Asia Society before becoming President Emeritus in 2004. Trained in Chinese at the State Department Language School, he began his career in Asia as a China Analyst at the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong from 1964-68.
