Vitus ( / ˈvaɪtəs / ), whose name is sometimes rendered Guy or Guido, was a Christian martyr from Sicily. His surviving hagiography is pure legend. The dates of his actual life are unknown.

Saint Vitus, also known as Guy, Veit, Vith, or Vito, was a Christian martyr who lived during the early 4th century. According to legend, he was the son of a pagan Sicilian senator named Hylas. At the age of twelve, Vitus was converted to Christianity by his tutor, Saint Modestus, and his nurse, Saint Crescentia.
Facts. Unreliable legend has Vitus, the only son of a senator in Sicily, become a Christian when he was twelve. When his conversions and miracles became widely known to the administrator of Sicily, Valerian, he had Vitus brought before him, to shake his faith.
