After touching the lives of over 1000 students for 14 years, as the DeKalb Center for Performing Arts (DCPA), the magnet program housed at Avondale High School was expanded to a stand-alone high school in 1999.
DeKalb School of the Arts is a highly rated, public, magnet school located in AVONDALE ESTATES, GA. It has 302 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. According to state test scores, 42% of students are at least proficient in math and 87% in reading.
After eight years at its independent location, DeKalb School of the Arts moved back into the Avondale High School building in August 2009. Since the closure of Avondale High School in 2011, DSA has occupied half of its old campus, sharing it with the DeKalb County School District's Registration
