Masaaki Hiyama (日山 正明, born Aki Masa, September 2, 1959) is a Japanese jazz drummer [1] who participated in some of Japan's more well known fusion bands. He was a former member of jazz-fusion band Casiopea . Biography. In 1979, he joined a fusion group called Guitarist Creek.
日山 正明 （ひやま まさあき、 1959年 9月2日 - ）は、 日本 の ドラマー 。 カシオペア の元メンバー。 略歴. 15歳でドラム・セットを始め17歳頃、尚美音楽院のドラム科、打楽器科で1年程レッスンを受ける。 1979年 にギタリスト 小川銀次 率いるフュージョン・グループ、クロスウィンドに参加。 この頃にカシオペアと出会い親交を持つ。 その後、ジャズ・ テナー・サクソフォーン 奏者の 松本英彦 グループに参加。 旧ソ連ツアーへも参加。 ジャズ・ボーカリスト、 アンリ菅野 、ジャズ・ピアニストの益田幹夫グループ、コーラス・グループのITSのバンド、西直樹トリオ、秋山一将グループに参加するなどジャズのフィールドで活動。 1989年専門学校ミューズ音楽院のドラムス科講師を務める。

Replaced Masaaki Hiyama and played as a Casiopea member until Akira Jimbo returned to the group. In 2004, he formed Jazz-Fusion Supergroup TRIX alongside former T-Square bassist Mitsuru Sutoh, session keyboardist Hiroshi Kubota and session guitarist Takeshi Hirai, with Kubota replaced by electone/piano prodigy Ayaki Saito and Hirai ...

13 de sept. de 2008 · In 1989, Akira Jimbo and Tetsuo Sakurai left the band following several years of musical differences. They later formed their own duo-band, Jimsaku. For their replacement, Casiopea chose Yoshihiro Naruse (bass) and Masaaki Hiyama (drums). In 1993, the group once again changed its members. Noriaki Kumagai came to replace Masaaki.
