The Vapors are an English new wave and power pop band that initially existed between 1978 and 1981. They had a hit with the song "Turning Japanese", which reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart in 1980 and No. 36 in the US Billboard Hot 100.
15 de nov. de 2006 · Often derided as one-hit wonders (for the 1980 hard-wave anthem "Turning Japanese"), or as imitators of the mid-period Jam, the Vapors were nevertheless a fine and worthy band whose two LPs have weathered extremely well. The evidence: They've spawned more greatest-hits packages than they had albums.
7 de abr. de 1998 · Vaporized is the third Vapors anthology in three years and, for a band that only released two proper albums, that's no small feat. This one rights the wrongs of earlier collections by finally putting out the two albums -- 1980's New Clear Days and 1981's Magnets -- in their entirety on one CD.
A somewhat misleading title, Anthology is a straight reissue of New Clear Days with four songs from Magnets tacked on to the end. Since the band only made two albums it would have been nice to release both as a two-fer -- or at least add some rare tracks to the anthology.
