Frank Gadler, the group's original vocalist, sings lead on most of the songs, although Joey Spampinato, (credited under both his real name and the pseudonym Jody St. Nicholas), sings lead on all the songs he had a hand in writing except "Don't Knock At My Door," on which Gadler takes the lead.
NRBQ's earliest incarnation was floundering in Miami, Florida, when bassist Joey Spampinato and singer Frank Gadler of the band the Seven of Us arrived in town; the two newcomers joined Terry Adams, Ferguson, and drummer Tom Staley in a new incarnation of the Q, which was a quintet for several years.
in 2014 released an album entitled "Cause of You" by Frank Gadler & the Amrod Band on the Awesome Mother label. in 2016 were commissioned to write the "Rock Opera Diggerman" with Pee Wee Ellis & Fred Wesley based on the music of the Children of the Earth. in May 2017 tour Europe & record a live album with Fred Wesley & Pee Wee Ellis.
