Released in March 1994, Miaow was a crucial album for The Beautiful South, as not only did it see the debut of Jacqui Abbott, but there was the added pressure of halting the band’s steadily declining chart placings of the band’s albums and singles in the face of the less grey-matter engaging Britpop that was dominating the UK charts at the time.
