- About Us
Founded by King Henry VIII in 1541, The King's (The Cathedral) School is a state-funded Church of England Cathedral Chorister School located in Peterborough, England. It is the Chorister School for Peterborough Cathedral. Former pupils are known as Old Petriburgians.
King’s is one of the seven famous Cathedral Schools established by Henry VIII in 1541. Today we are a thriving, forward-thinking, independent day school with 740 pupils. We welcome boys and girls, aged 3 to 18, offering academic excellence and a celebrated range of co-curricular activities, underpinned by outstanding pastoral care.
King’s is a leading independent day school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18. With a rich history and close links to the Cathedral, we focus on the future - delivering a rounded education which provides our pupils with the academic skills and personal characteristics required for future success.
The King's (The Cathedral) School acquired Academy status on 1 January 2011 and thus became an Independent School but still providing state funded education for all of the pupils. It is a Church of England comprehensive school, with a large academic Sixth Form.
