Charles Samuel Bush (born April 13, 1952) is an American mandolinist who is considered an originator of progressive bluegrass music. In 2020, he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame as a member of New Grass Revival .
With Bush, the Bluegrass Alliance would evolve into New Grass Revival by the mid 1970s, and would set the standard for eclectic bluegrass with vocals -- Grisman and his colleagues concentrated on instrumental music.
21 de jul. de 2016 · Sam Bush, on the other hand — Kentucky-born mandolin-toter though he may have been — was cut from a different cloth. He was rock 'n' roll, 100 proof, who managed both to piss off Bill Monroe (“Stick to the fiddle, son”) and to introduce the Big Mon’s licks to a new generation.
On his own, Bush has continued to explore an eclectic musical spectrum. Bush was exposed to country music and bluegrass at an early age through his father’s record collection and, later, by Flatt & Scruggs’ television show.
