Académie de La Palette, also called Académie La Palette and La Palette, (English: Palette Academy), was a private art school in Paris, France, active between 1888 and 1925, aimed at promoting 'conciliation entre la liberté et le respect de la tradition'.
Enrolled at the Zvantseva School of drawing and painting, as student of Leo Bakst. He made the acquaintance of Bella (Berta) Rosenfeld. 1911-1914. On a scholarship offered by Max Vinaver, in May 1911 Chagall went to Paris to study. He settled at La Ruche, and entered the circle of avant-garde painters and poets.
Although grateful for the free formal instruction, Chagall left the school after several months. That same year Chagall moved to St. Petersburg to continue his studies at the Zvantseva School of Drawing and Painting where he briefly apprenticed under the artist and set designer Leon Bakst.

He attended the Imperial School for the Protection of the Fine Arts in St Petersburg from 1907, and later at the Zvantseva School, led by Léon Bakst.
