Godard reformed the band and as 'Vic Godard and Subway Sect' finally released their debut album What's the Matter, Boy? in 1980, following a period of shifting group personnel. The album features many songs written during the previous incarnation of the band, but performed with radically altered arrangements.

10 de ago. de 2021 · A shaky lo-fi version of ‘U.S. Cunts’ exists on Subway Sect’s Live And Rare Volume 1. With its unsubtle title and repetitive “fuck the USA” chorus, perhaps in spirit, if not musically it might have informed the last gang in town. “’U.S. Cunts’ was one of our early ones,” confirms Godard.

Whats THE Matter Boy? Oddball / MCA 1980. When Vic Godard & Subway Sect recorded their debut album. They had a shedload of great songs. Problem was, there was now no band to play them. Manager Bernie Rhodes had sacked the rest of the band and just kept Vic on.
