Jim Henman Bio. Writing his first tune, at age 12, Jim spent much of his youth strumming a Stella acoustic guitar on the sandy shores of Clam Harbour, Nova Scotia. Jim wrote his first song on this Stella.
It established Myles Goodwyn as April Wine's main songwriter. The album did not sell well, but the success of the single led the band's label to ask for a second album. Jim Henman left the band in the fall of 1971 and was replaced by Jim Clench.

Henman’s family had just moved to Halifax from rural Clam Harbour in eastern Nova Scotia. “This skinny little kid came running through the woods saying, ‘I hear somebody here plays guitar,'” recalls Henman.

It all began in Nova Scotia late in 1969. The Henman brothers, David and Ritchie, got together with their cousin Jim Henman and fellow musician Myles Goodwyn to form a band called April Wine, a name chosen simply because they were two words that sounded good together.
