Rob Jones (14 February 1964 – 31 July 1993), known by his nickname The Bass Thing, or by some as Bob Jones, was an English musician. He was a founding member and original bassist for The Wonder Stuff , based in Stourbridge ( West Midlands , England).

The album was dedicated to the memory of Rob "The Bass Thing" Jones, the band's original bassist who died from a heart attack in New York soon after leaving the band. It was released as Polydor 519894-2. Artwork. Much of the artwork came from 1960s photographs of a space observation project at Kettering Grammar School in Northamptonshire .
The début of the original incarnation featuring Rob "The Bass Thing" Jones is as decent as anything they did, and Miles Hunt's sarcastic lyrics particularly appealed to me as a 13 year old at the time. "A Wish Away" and "Unbearable" are the highlights for me.
13 de dic. de 2008 · Formed in March 1986, original bass-player Rob "The Bass Thing" Jones left in 1989, a few months after Martin Bell joined as to play violin and banjo. Jones later died of a drug overdose in New York.
