As If to Nothing is the second independent album by Scottish composer Craig Armstrong, featuring collaborations with Bono of U2, Mogwai, Photek, Evan Dando, King Crimson, and former Big Dish vocalist Steven Lindsay. It was released on 19 February 2002, on the EMI label in the United Kingdom, and Astralwerks in the United States.
After several projects done work-for-hire in the film and pop world, Craig Armstrong returns to where he originally started with his own material with the release of his second long-play CD As if to Nothing, collaborating with acts such as Bono, Evan Dando (Lemonheads), Mogwai, Photek, Antye Grei-Fuchs (Laub).

Bono, Evan Dando, Mogwai, Photek, and David McAlmont all attempt star turns, and less well-known performers from Big Dish, Alpha, and Laub get in on the festivities as well. But Armstrong's string arrangements are still the focal point, to the extent that most of the collaborators are relegated to a back seat.
