Russell Keith "Rusty" Hopkinson is an Australian rock musician and record label owner. He joined alternative rockers, You Am I, in 1993 on drums, percussion and backing vocals. He had previously been a member of the Bamboos (1986–87) and Kryptonics (1987–88).
With drummer Russell “Rusty” Hopkinson and bassist Andy Kent living in Sydney, and vocalist Tim Rogers and lead guitar Davey Lane living in Melbourne, a creative approach was needed to getting this album recorded. I caught up with Rusty to chat about the recording process.
Rogers initially considered disbanding the group but continued with Russell Hopkinson (ex-Nursery Crimes) on drums, percussion and backing vocals. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1994 in March they won the newly created category, Best Alternative Release for Sound as Ever.
