Mantler's standing preoccupation with connections between literature and music is evidenced above all in the Samuel Beckett-inspired "What Is The Word", performed as a duet between Jack Bruce and Mantler's daughter, Karen.
The ensemble features guitarist Rick Fenn, flautist Wolfgang Puschnig, pianist Karen Mantler, percussionist Dave Adams and the Balanescu Quartet, with a guest appearance from vocalist Jack Bruce singing Samuel Beckett's final poem, "What Is the Word".
During 1992, Mantler recorded a new album, titled Folly Seeing All This, released by ECM Records in March 1993, which features the Balanescu Quartet plus other instrumentalists.
