My Goal's Beyond is the third solo album (after Extrapolation and Devotion) by guitarist John McLaughlin. The album was originally released in 1971 on Douglas Records in the US. It was later reissued by Douglas/Casablanca (1976), Elektra/Musician (1982), and in 1987 by Rykodisc on CD and LP.
7 de may. de 2019 · The Inner Mounting Flame is a much more electric affair, but the first half of My Goal’s Beyond shows how McLaughlin planned to fold the violin and his newfound spirituality into his music. Liebman plays the flute on the first Peace, soprano sax on the second, but otherwise they’re of a piece.

1 de mar. de 2000 · McLauglin’s terrestrial bound steel strings pierce through the reverie in stunning contrast to the whistling upper register lines of Liebman’s flute. Goodman’s prickly violin is similarly sharp-tongued spitting out streams of vaporous harmonics.
