Joneny, an anthropology student, sets out to decipher the “Ballad of Beta-2.” Beta-2 is one of twelve generation ships that launched for the stars hundreds of years prior. The ships reach their destination—but two of the ships arrive lifeless. Few pieces of the generation ships’ history and culture exist.
