Initially Boys, later Mixed. Age. 2 to 13. Stubbington House School [1] was founded in 1841 as a boys' preparatory school, originally located in the Hampshire village of Stubbington, around 1 mile (1.6 km) from the Solent. Stubbington House School was known by the sobriquet "the cradle of the Navy". [2]

15 de dic. de 2012 · A Memory of Stubbington. I never went to Stubbington House School, however, I have lived in Stubbington for 70 years. I loved the buildings and the daffodils on the front lawn, the walled kitchen garden on the corner of Bells Lane; the school was almost self sufficient with a dairy and kitchen garden surrounded by high walls in Bells Lane.
There it merged with the long-established Earleywood School before subsequently closing on 7 July 1997. A limited company, Stubbington House Earleywood Limited, had been formed in 1963. A few of the school buildings still remain in Stubbington, although most became derelict within a year of them being sold to Fareham Council, for £97,000, in 1962.
Stubbington House, an attractive Queen Anne building which sat in the position now occupied by the tennis courts, was demolished in 1967. Two of the buildings associated with the school are still in use - the assembly hall is used by the scouts and the Community Centre incorporates a classroom block.
