Lionel Sackville-West Sackville, 2d Baron, 1827–1908, British diplomat. He served in numerous diplomatic posts before being appointed (1881) ambassador to the United States. He helped to settle (1887–88) the quarrel between the United States and Canada over fishing rights in the North Atlantic.

He inherited the barony in 1908 on the death of his uncle, the diplomat Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville. In April 1912, Lord Sackville was appointed a deputy lieutenant of Kent. [2] . He married his first cousin Victoria Sackville-West (1862–1936), illegitimate daughter of the second Baron, in 1890.
